Cajon Grooves for Beginners DVD:
Patterns for Rock, Pop, Funk & Folk
by Alan Dworsky
This DVD teaches 20 great grooves that fit with all kinds of music. It starts with a detailed demonstration of basic technique and features clear, step-by-step instruction throughout. Each pattern is shown in side view, player’s eye view, and slow motion.
The grooves are organized into eight lessons, including Straight 8ths, Shuffle Feel, Straight 16ths, and Funky 16ths. At the end of every lesson I play a groove from that lesson along with music, and throughout the video the rhythm almost never stops, so you can always play along.
As a bonus, I explain basic rhythmic concepts that will help you understand the grooves and help you communicate with other musicians. If you want to see the patterns on paper, a PDF file is included that you can print out with charts of all the patterns.
If you learn to play the patterns on this video, you should be able to play along with almost any music, including rock, pop, funk, and folk.
Running time: 1 hour and 6 minutes
